refilling at Cartridge World protects our environment>
The term 'green' is now widely used to describe the ideal environment.
To be 'green' is to be aware that we need to look after the environment for environmental wellbeing and for future generations to enjoy. We can achieve this by actively learning to pursue practices that help to reduce the negative and destructive impact on the environment.
Recycling of plastics has come a long way to assist in the endeavor to reduce pollution, however not all plastics can be readily broken down into reusable materials. Some plastics contain substances that cannot be separated; while others can be, but at prohibitive costs and using processes that contribute to further pollution by producing; unreasonable amounts of non bio-degradable by-products as well as the emissions of greenhouse gasses created producing the energy required to carry out the process.
Having your cartridge refilled at Cartridge World can assist in achieving this. Key points are:
- Re-manufacturing of printer cartridges involves recycling. The original laser cartridge shell and some other components are reused. This also applies to inkjet cartridges that are refilled rather than remanufactured; the cartridge shell is simply reused.
- For every cartridge that is re-manufactured, approximately 1 kilogram of plastic is withheld from disposal. This reduces the amount of non-recyclable plastics from reaching the landfill. The industrial grade plastic used in cartridges take at least 1000years to decompose and it takes approximately 2 litres of fossil fuel (oil) to produce one new laser cartridge.
- Re-manufacturing is superior both environmentally and economically. It minimises waste, conserves energy, reduces pollution and makes economical sense as it saves money. It also creates employment and good business opportunities.
- 90% of empty used cartridges find their way to the landfill dumps or worst still, are incinerated.
The cartridge re-manufacturing industry only accounts for approximately 10% of the number of new cartridges used by commerce, industry, government departments, private organisations and individuals. - Many organisations and individuals do not know about re-manufacturing. However, if they do, they may have a preconceived notion that re-manufacturing is inferior to new, or simply do not consider that there is a real and urgent need to consider the effect on the environment, when disposing of a cartridge.
- By refilling ink cartridges and re-manufacturing laser cartridges at Cartridge World, we are jointly helping to care for our environment, and saving you along the way!
