Cartridge World endorsed by Ministry for the Environment

Cartridge World New Zealand has received the support of the Ministry for the Environment for their commitment to environmentally sound business.

"Thank goodness for those who have built a good business around remanufacturing and recycling cartridges," said Minister for the Environment, Hon Marian Hobbs, at the recent opening of a new Cartridge World store in central Wellington.

"We are always delighted to see recycling ventures that operate in the open market as successful businesses. Initiatives like yours help support our journey toward sustainability and are in keeping with our strategies for energy efficiency, conservation of resources, and reducing waste.

"It is pleasing to see a recycling business that has been able to identify, develop, and build a profitable market. I understand that your industry group has also taken a lead in terms of setting standards for cartridge recycling in Australasia, an initiative that I commend you for.

"I am always happy to recognise the efforts of people, businesses, and organisations who adopt a sustainable approach to their activities. I look forward to watching your sector grow and I hope we will see other entrepreneurs identifying opportunities for remanufacturing or recycling other product ranges."

National research has identified that New Zealand households dump at least 141 printer cartridges into the countries landfills every hour, contributing to the world's growing e-waste problem. Cartridge World is committed to reducing the environmental impact of cartridge waste by educating consumers in the environmental and economic benefits of refilling and remanufacturing printer, toner, and fax cartridges.
